Question: Is bipolar mental impairment the cause when a person lies incessantly & continuously for no reason?

Answer #1:

No, bipolarism is when an individual goes through extreme, spontaneous, routine changes in overall attitude and demeanor. For example, one minute the individual could be as happy as can be, and the next moment they seem severely depressed. If someone is bipolar, you can tell right away. Bipolarism is a severe medical condition.

The wife most likely suffers from simply not feeling adequate enough about herself, her accomplishments, and her abilities. The proper term for someone liker her, as you have described her, would be a compulsive liar. It is not a medical condition, by the way.

Answer #2:

Bipolar seems to be the substitute word for bad behaviour these days. She's just being nasty because she can get away with it, and nobody's got the balls to stand up to her, that's what it all comes down to. Time to confront her, otherwise you can look forward to more of the same.

Answer #3:

Hi it sounds to me like she is also OCD.

Manic Depressive, (Bi-Polar) is only partly controlled by meds and counseling/therapy, but is hugely influenced by situation, circumstance, and the environment one remains in or can't escape from. Science states the root cause is genetic, but agrees that the swings are also triggered, perhaps even in the misfiring of synapse

The lying is perhaps a side effect triggered by something that created her depressive issues in that time. It's as much thought to be a sociopath behavior, and involved in the entire structure was perhaps not part of her makeup from birth, genetically, but some level of trauma she experienced at some point.

In a clinical sense it's the bodies/brains inability to effectively balance what levels of what body chemistry exists that effects mood, attitude, happy, sad, in ones brain.
